Nordisk Campsite Dongshe China
Brings Nordic Outdoor Living to Shanghai’s Countryside
A new place to slow down and enjoy nature has opened in Dongshe Village, Shanghai. On September 24, Nordisk Campsite Dongshe, the Big White Bear Camp, celebrated its opening, bringing Scandinavian outdoor living to the gardens and waterways of the Jiangnan countryside.
Located in Liantang, Qingpu, the campsite is Nordisk’s first hospitality project in Shanghai. Here, Nordic design meets a landscape shaped by lotus ponds, greenery and local village life, creating a welcoming setting for a break from the city.

Camping Among the Gardens
At the heart of Nordisk Campsite Dongshe is a “Flower Garden Camping” concept that brings tents into a setting of planted gardens and winding green spaces. The landscape is central to the experience, inviting visitors to spend time outdoors and enjoy the surrounding countryside at an unhurried pace.
The first phase features Nordisk’s signature Asgard, Vanaheim and Midgard cotton tents, with their distinctive shapes and natural materials. A large Valhal event tent adds a gathering space styled as a waterside bar, bringing another place to relax and spend time together.
Throughout the campsite, elements of Nordic design create comfortable spaces that feel closely connected to their surroundings.

A Little "Hygge" in Jiangnan
The campsite brings Nordisk’s belief that “Nature is Luxury” into the setting of Dongshe Village. Its approach draws on both Scandinavian outdoor traditions and the cultural character of Jiangnan, creating a place where being outside can be a simple, shared pleasure.
That is where "hygge" comes in: the comfort of slowing down, enjoying good company and finding pleasure in the moment. At Dongshe, this spirit takes shape among gardens, tents and lotus ponds, with room to pause and reconnect with nature.

Discover the First Phase
Nordisk Campsite Dongshe is welcoming its first visitors during a soft-opening period. This initial phase is open for daytime visits by reservation, with overnight stays not yet available while facilities and services continue to be developed.
Future phases are planned to introduce additional garden areas, alongside Hygge Hill with sauna and spa facilities, and a scenic swimming pool. The date for the full opening will be announced separately.
For those curious to explore this new meeting of Nordic outdoor living and Jiangnan village life, the soft opening offers an early opportunity to discover the campsite.
